Tyler Dumont

Tyler Dumont  BPE, BScPT, MSc, Diploma Sport Physio, CSCS - Clinic Director

Tyler is the owner of Physiomoves Physiotherapy Clinic and has been practising as a Physiotherapist for over 17 years.  He holds 2 University Bachelor degrees in Physical Education and Physiotherapy, a Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Sciences, a Diploma in Sport Physiotherapy, and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. 

Tyler has extensive experience working with athletes of all ages and abilities from a variety of sporting backgrounds, including cycling, triathlon, rugby, hockey, field hockey, and gymnastics at the provincial, national and international level.  As a former national champion cyclist, Tyler is also the Lower Mainland's expert on bike fits, having performed thousands of these over the past 14 years.

In addition to working clinically, Tyler is a Clinical Associate Professor with the UBC Department of Physical Therapy.  Since 1998, Tyler has enjoyed teaching UBC students, and is honoured to be a past recipient of the Physiotherapy Association of BC Award of Excellence in Education as well as the Faculty of Medicine Award for Excellence in Teaching.   He continues to mentor and supervise UBC Master of Physical Therapy students each year.

Recent career highlights include representing the UBC Department of Physical Therapy during the 2010 Torch relay, and working as a volunteer Physiotherapist at Canada Hockey Place during the Winter Olympics.  In his spare time, Tyler enjoys cycling and spending time with his wife and 3 young sons around their local Panorama/ Sullivan neighbourhood.

Experience:

  • Over 17 years experience in sports rehabilitation, orthopedics, arthritis, and joint replacement (9 years at the UBC Sports Medicine Centre)
  • Treated athletes from many different sports (e.g. cycling, triathlon, rugby, field hockey, and gymnastics at the provincial, national and international level).
  • Over 14 years experience in performing “bike fits” for triathletes, road cyclists, commuters, and recreational cyclists in order to optimize cycling performance and to prevent injuries.
