Tyler Dumont BPE, BScPT, MSc, Diploma Sport Physio, CSCS - Clinic Director
Tyler achieved his Bachelor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Alberta in 1993. He completed his Masters Degree in Rehabilitation Sciences from UBC in 1998. He has 17 years of experience working as a Physiotherapist in private practice; 9 of which were at the Allan McGavin Sports Medicine Centre, UBC. Tyler opened Physiomoves in 2007 and is proud of the reputation he and his team are establishing in the community.
Tyler is the only Physiotherapist in South Surrey, White Rock and Langley to hold a Diploma in Sports Physiotherapy, Canada's highest level of sport rehabilitation specialization for his profession. As a former national champion cyclist, Tyler is also the Lower Mainland's expert on bike fits, having performed thousands of these over the past 14 years. He has worked with athletes from many sports, including extensive experience in cycling, rugby, hockey, field hockey, and gymnastics at the provincial, national and international level. Tyler is also a Clinical Associate Professor with the Department of Physical Therapy, Faculty of Medicine at UBC; a job he has enjoyed since 1998. Some recent career highlights include being selected by his peers to represent Physical Therapy in the 2010 Torch Relay, being selected to be a part of the national Physiotherapy campaign commercial, and being a part of the Host Medical Team at Canada Hockey Place during the 2010 Olympics.
Kristen Pummell B.Sc. Kinesiology, MPT
Kristen graduated in the top of her class from the Master of Physical Therapy program at the
University
of
British Columbia
. Her areas of interest and expertise include sports and orthopaedic injuries, post-surgery rehabilitation and pregnancy/post-natal care. Kristen is achieving advanced manual therapy skills; she has completed the Mulligan Upper Quadrant course and the Orthopaedic Division 2 Upper and Lower courses. Kristen is also training under the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute, and will have her full acupuncture certification this spring.
Kristen is returning for her 7th year with the Burnaby Lakers Lacrosse Club as head trainer/Physiotherapist. She is also the head trainer for the ICSF Inter Men’s soccer team. Kristen has volunteered for many other teams and sporting events, including the 2009 World Police and Fire Games, SFU women’s volleyball team and men’s field lacrosse team, Beach Soccer Blast and the BC High School Wrestling Championships.
Jody Wiebe B.Sc. (Biopsychology),MPT
Jody graduated from the Master of Physical Therapy program at the University of British Columbia. Her clinical experience and interests include sports injuries, neck/back injuries, paediatrics, peri-natal care, lymphedema and pre/post surgical rehabilitation. Jody has a keen interest in continuing education, with the goal to acquire advanced orthopaedic manual therapy skills. She has attained the Orthpaedic Level 1 certificate, Level 2 lower course and is currently working towards completing further levels.
Jody has always been actively involved in a wide spectrum of athletics, from high level competitive soccer, to field hockey and long distance running. She also has experience coaching, fitness training, and is enjoying becoming more involved with the sport injury prevention /treatment aspect of athletics.
Jonathan Yiu BHK (Human Kinetics), MPT
Johnny is the most recent Physiotherapist to join the Physiomoves team, and is another Master of Physical Therapy graduate from UBC. His clinical experience and interests include sports injuries, orthopaedics, paediatrics, and pre/post surgical rehabilitation. Johnny is pursuing advanced orthopaedic manual therapy skills and a license in acupuncture. He has is currently enrolled in the Orthopedic Division Level 2 certificate course.
Johnny’s sport involvement includes four seasons as an athlete with the UBC Varsity Baseball program. While his passion lies with baseball, Johnny is very interested in all sporting activities, but more importantly the prevention of sport-related injuries. He also has a special interest working with children, and recently won the Canadian Physiotherapy Association Paediatric Award.
Barry Bereziak Registered Massage Therapist, CSMT
Barry has enjoyed working as a Registered Massage Therapist in private practice for 14 years. He is certified with the Canadian Sports Massage Therapists Association; an achievement that he shares with only a few massage therapists in BC. Barry is acquiring new knowledge of core exercises through the Carl Petersen Fit to Play Core Strengthening Program. He has also recently completed the SportMedBC Athlete Functional Assessment course.
Barry works with the Vancouver Fusion hockey team, who recently placed 1st in the Midget Female AAA league. Barry has worked extensively with members of the Symmetrics Pro Cycling Team and the National Cycling Team. He has provided massage therapy for the Langley Hornets Junior A Hockey Club, Team Canada in the 1997 Race Across America, the BC Lions Football Club and the Montreal Alouettes Football Club during the 2005 Grey Cup. Barry enjoys a variety of activities, including cycling. He currently resides in Langley with his wife Susan.
