Tyler Dumont - Physiotherapist, Clinic Director
BPE, BScPT, MSc, Diploma Sport Physiotherapist, CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist), Clinical Associate Professor, UBC
Tyler achieved his Bachelor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Alberta in 1993. He completed his Masters Degree in Rehabilitation Sciences from UBC in 1998. He has over 19 years of experience working as a Physiotherapist in private practice; 9 of which were at the Allan McGavin Sports Medicine Centre, UBC. Tyler opened Physiomoves in 2007 and is proud of the reputation he and his team are establishing in the community as one of the best physio/ rehabilitation clinics in the Lower Mainland .
Tyler is a Clinical Associate Professor with the Department of Physical Therapy, Faculty of Medicine at UBC. He has been instructing UBC students in the area of Sports and Orthopaedic Physiotherapy since 1998. He is honoured to be a past recipient of the Physiotherapy Association of BC Award of Excellence in Education, as well as the Faculty of Medicine Award for Excellence in Teaching. He continues to mentor and supervise UBC Master of Physical Therapy students each year.
Tyler is the only Physiotherapist in South Surrey, White Rock and Langley to hold a Diploma in Sport Physiotherapy, Canada's highest level of sport rehabilitation specialization for his profession. As a former national champion cyclist, Tyler is also the Lower Mainland's expert on bike fits, having performed thousands of these over the past 16 years. He has worked with athletes from many sports, including extensive experience in cycling, running, swimming, rugby, hockey, field hockey, and gymnastics at the provincial, national and international level. He represented Physical Therapy in the 2010 Torch Relay, and was a part of the Host Medical Team at Canada Hockey Place during the 2010 Olympics. Along with other Physiomoves therapists, Tyler recently completed the Functional Movement Screening and the Selective Functional Movement Assessment courses. He is also pursuing advanced bike fit certification.
In his spare time, Tyler enjoys cycling and spending time with his wife and 3 young sons around their local Panorama/ Sullivan neighbourhood.
Kristen Hoffman - Physiotherapist
B.Sc. (Kinesiology) , MPT (Master of Physical Therapy), AFCI certificate (Acupuncture)
Kristen is a graduate from the Master of Physical Therapy program at the University of British Columbia. She obtained a Kinesiology degree from SFU in 2006. Her areas of interest and expertise include sports and orthopaedic injuries, post-surgery rehabilitation and pregnancy/post-natal care. Kristen is achieving advanced manual therapy skills; she has completed the Mulligan Upper Quadrant course and the Orthopaedic Division 2 Upper and Lower courses. Kristen has also achieved her full acupuncture certification through the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute.
Kristen is returning for her 8th year with the Burnaby Lakers Lacrosse Club as head trainer/Physiotherapist. Kristen has volunteered for many other teams and sporting events, including the World Police and Fire Games, the SFU women's volleyball team and men's field lacrosse team, Beach Soccer Blast and the BC High-School Wrestling Championships.
Johnny Yiu - Physiotherapist
BHK (Human Kinetics), MPT (Master of Physical Therapy)
Johnny is another skilled Master of Physical Therapy graduate from UBC and proudly grew up in Surrey. He has won several awards for clinical and academic distinction, especially in the area of paediatrics. His clinical experience and expertise include sports injuries, paediatrics, and pre/post surgical rehabilitation. Johnny is pursuing advanced manual therapy skills and a license in acupuncture. He has achieved his Orthopaedic Division Level I certificate and will have completed Level II Upper and Lower Orthopaedic courses by the end of November 2011.
Johnny's sport involvement includes four seasons as an athlete with the UBC Varsity Baseball program. He is currently working as the team Physiotherapist with Douglas College Baseball here in Surrey. While his passion lies with baseball, Johnny is very interested in working with athletes from all sporting backgrounds and educating clients on the prevention of sport-related injuries.
Jody Wiebe - Physiotherapist
B.Sc. (Biopsychology), MPT (Master of Physical Therapy)
Jody graduated from the Master of Physical Therapy program at the University of British Columbia. Her clinical experience and interests include sports injuries, neck/back injuries, paediatrics, peri-natal care, lymphedema and pre/post surgical rehabilitation. Jody has a keen interest in continuing education, with the goal to acquire advanced orthopaedic manual therapy skills. She has attained the Orthpaedic Level 1 certificate, Level 2 lower course and is currently working towards completing further levels. She has also achieved her Sports First Responder Certificate, APTEI Level 1 Shoulder Impingement Certificate (manual therapy), Functional Movement Screening and Selective Functional Movement Assessment Certificate and the Women's Health: Continence & Pelvic Floor Retraining Certificate.
Jody has always been actively involved in a wide spectrum of athletics, from high level competitive soccer, to field hockey and long distance running. She also has experience coaching, fitness training, and is enjoying becoming more involved with the sport injury prevention /treatment aspect of athletics.
* Jody is currently off on maternity leave and will be returning to Physiomoves in the Spring of 2012.
Tiphanie Ge - Physiotherapist
Tiphanie graduated from the Master's of Science in Physical Therapy program at the University of Toronto in 2009. She previously completed a Bachelor's degree in Human Kinetics (Exercise Science) at the University of British Columbia in 2007. Her areas of interest and experience are in post-operative rehabilitation, sports injuries, work-related injuries, and motor vehicle accidents. Tiphanie has taken post-graduate courses in manual therapy and has obtained her Level 1 and Level 2 Upper Certificate. She has also successfully completed Anatomical Acupuncture 1 and 2 and is pursuing her Certificate in Anatomical Acupuncture with the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute. With a keen interest in providing her clients with the most up to date information on rehabilitation and exercises, Tiphanie has also completed a "Balls, Bands, and Balance" Course, The Knee Complex Course, and an Athletic Taping Course. Tiphanie is bilingual and speaks fluently in Mandarin.
Outside of the clinic, Tiphanie has experience as a Sun Run InTraining Volunteer and coaching volleyball and track and field. When she's not found working, she enjoys playing volleyball, hiking, and watching the Vancouver Canucks.
Christine Campbell - Physiotherapist
Christine graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelors degree in Human Kinetics in 2007. During this time she played and captained the varsity women's field hockey team as well as represented Canada on the international field hockey stage. A highlight of her athletic career was competing at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio Di Janeiro and the 2008 Olympic Qualifier in Victoria, BC. Following her pursuit of the Olympics, she then completed a Master of Physiotherapy at the University of British Columbia in 2010.
Growing up, Christine was constantly on the move, competing at the elite level in gymnastics and soccer. The exposure to athletics and exercise at an early age has helped to develop a keen interest in sports and musculoskeletal rehabilitation. Christine's professional goals are to complete the Diploma of Advanced Orthopaedic Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy levels and to obtain a Diploma in Sport Physiotherapy. Christine's approach to physiotherapy is one that focuses on collaboration with clients while incorporating manual therapy techniques with individualized exercise programs to facilitate healing and allow the client to return to their desired activities.
When Christine isn't working she enjoys everything the BC outdoors has to offer; hiking, camping, skiing and fishing. Christine believes in lifelong activity and thus continues to play field hockey at the recreational level as well as engage in new and challenging activities such as triathlons.
Barry Bereziak - Massage Therapist
Registered Massage Therapist, Sports Massage Therapist
Barry has enjoyed working as a Registered Massage Therapist in private practice for the past 15 years, and has been with Physiomoves for 3 years. He is certified with the Canadian Sports Massage Therapists Association; an achievement that he shares with only a few massage therapists in BC. Barry worked extensively with members of the former Symmetrics Pro Cycling Team and the National Cycling Team. He has provided massage therapy for the Langley Hornets Junior A Hockey Club, Team Canada in the 1997 Race Across America, the BC Lions Football Club and the Montreal Alouettes Football Club during the 2005 Grey Cup. Most recently, Barry can be seen volunteering at many local events in the community such as the Sandcastle 10km road race in White Rock. Barry enjoys a variety of activities, including cycling. He proudly wore the Physiomoves cycling jersey at the 2011 Penticton Gran Fondo and plans to participate again next year.
